The Center hosts readings, workshops, lectures, and publishes a variety of poetry publications. SPC is located in the R25 Arts Complex located on the corner of R & 25th Streets in midtown Sacramento.



Sacramento Poetry Center memberships support a variety of local poetry programs, publications, readings, and events. Members receive a free subscription to Tule Review and Poetry Now. Please send your check for $30 or more to SPC, 1719 25th St., Sacramento, CA 95816. Fixed incomes are $15.

Judy Halebsky, now in Japan.

Judy sits with her calligraphic Japanese brush and ink artwork titled, Woman Under Trees. Sensei Dr. Judy Halebsky was a board member of the SPC, recently earned her PhD in Performing Arts from UC Davis and teaches in Japan. She is an accomplished student and lecturer of poetry, Japanese literature and Noh Theater. She incorporates music into her ethereal readings. Dr. Halebsky has a chapbook of poetry out titled, Japanese for Beginners. She also won the $2,000 New Issues Prize for her first full book to be published, offered from Western Michigan University. Judy attended SPC workshops frequently for a few years while living in Sacramento.
